About The University:

Founded in 1974 as the Imperial Medical Centre, Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) has grown and transformed considerably from its origins where it was linked to a single hospital. Located within close proximity to Milad Tower (435m) in Tehran, it oversees medical institutions in the Iranian capital which are recognized for excellence in healthcare, including 17 teaching and 15 non-teaching hospitals. Today, IUMS health professionals are responsible for providing healthcare services to approximately four million civilians from Tehran and other provinces, constituting 5.2% of the population. IUMS is continuously ranked among the nation’s most prestigious academic institutions for medical education and research. With 12 schools and over 50 research centers and institutes, it draws its student body from the top 1% of candidates selected from the public university entrance examination – known as the Concours.
IUMS has nationally been regarded as a pioneer in the disciplines of Nursing and Midwifery since setting up the first Nursing Care Research Centre in the country. It is now accredited as one of the World Health Organization’s Collaboration Centers for education and research in Nursing and Midwifery, joining the WHO’s global network of development centers within this field. Due to its robust international collaborative partnerships with academic institutions and non-governmental organizations, IUMS is now one of the major medical universities in the Middle East, attracting international students from the region and beyond.
